Cater for is GOOD while Cater to is BAD

HI alls! grammar lesson again.. hehehe 😀

To cater for means to provide what is needed by somebody while cater to means to satisfy a need which is generally unpopular or unacceptable.

Since these are the actual meanings of the phrases, Sentence 1 and 3 are WRONG while Sentence 2 and 4 are CORRECT.

  1. This organisation caters to the very poor. (WRONG)
  2. This organisation caters for the very poor. (CORRECT)
  3. This kind of entertainment caters for perverted people. (WRONG)
  4. This kind of entertainment caters to perverted people. (CORRECT)
